STEM School Logo

For this project, everyone in class had to design a logo for a school's STEM club. I tried to symbolize aspects of each letter of the acronym. For science I initially thought of biology, and then ultimately decided on a millipede because bugs look something that have to be closely studied, whereas something like a snake has other connotations that wouldn't make people initially think of science. For technology, I tried to make the T look like it has wires inside of it. For engineering, I made the E into a pulley system with a hook to make it look like a piece of machinery. For math, I initially wanted to use various math symbols, but it looked messy and distracting compared to the rest of the design so I settled for doing an absolute value function with an angle marked on it like those vector drawings in physics. I like how the T, E, and M came out, but I would definitely change how round and bulbous the millipede is because it looks sloppy and out of place compared to the sharp and angular lines of the other letters. I thought my idea for using a square root for a corner and a 'sum of' symbol as the base of a leg of the M was clever, so I'm disappointed that that didn't work out the way I wanted. I'm especially proud of the E because it looks like a pulley system that could actually work if it had a power source.
