This design was my final piece for one of the briefs in this year’s new blood competition held by D&AD. The idea behind this project was to combine poetry with typography, to communicate an environmental message. I eventually decided to use the work of Matsuo Basho, a famous poet who specializes in haikus, ( a form of poetry originating from Edo Period Japan) where their work communicates an appreciation for the simplicities and imperfections of everyday life. The final image is based on The Old Pond which I designed so it could be adjusted to fit a varied amount of design outputs and could animated.
