BEYOND RETAIL
The landscape of shopping malls today is facing substantial challenges. The emergence of
e-commerce has brought about a significant transformation in consumer shopping behaviours, leading to a noticeable decline in foot traffic within traditional shopping malls.

In order to effectively cater to the changing preferences and demands of modern consumers, it is imperative for shopping malls to undergo a strategic transformation aligned with emerging trends.
- STUDY OF FUTURE RETAIL -
The exploration into the evolution of shopping malls really shows how trends have changed over time, and shaping the way malls are designed today. Since the pandemic, there's been a noticeable shift. People are craving fresh and unique experiences now more than ever.

Since online shopping is available anytime and anywhere, just having a bunch of stores isn't quite enough to draw attention anymore. That's where experiential shopping comes in as a real game-changer for physical stores. because It's something you just can't replicate online.
Next Generation Retail Hub For Youth
The vision for this project is to create a cutting-edge space that revolutionises the concept of retail, turning shopping into an immersive experience that goes beyond just buying things. It's about blending entertainment and leisure seamlessly with the act of shopping, creating an entirely new and captivating way for people to engage with products and brands.

In this shopping mall environment, the future of retail is not just about purchasing goods; it's about creating unforgettable experiences that cater to every aspect of the modern shopper's journey.
SITE LOCATION
CINELEISURE, 8 GRANGE RD SINGAPORE 239695
The future shopping mall concept situated at Cineleisure, near Orchard Road and renowned as one of Singapore's major shopping districts. It was originally built in 1965 and rebranded as Cineleisure in 1997, it has a rich history of attracting young audiences. However, over time, the mall experienced a decline in visitor engagement and interest.
DESIGN ELEMENTS
Throughout my project, I will delve into how these design elements are transformed to align with emerging trends and fulfil the evolving needs of future consumers.
ANALYSIS
DESIGN STRATEGIES
Experiential value in shopping focuses on providing unique experiences and an immersive environment that goes beyond shopping. It aims to create closer connections with consumers through educating and delighting at different sensory levels.
BASKETBALL COURT / EVENT SPACE / OPEN STUDIO
Basketball court was designed for shoppers to try and use the products in real time, Open studios are located in each level, it is for shoppers to join live streaming and share reviews and these spaces could be transformed into event spaces.

This flexibility enables to host a wide range of activities, fostering direct participation from users and creating a highly interactive environment for shoppers
EXHIBITION / RUNNING TRACK / CATWALK
I've integrated captivating elements such as catwalks, a running track, and exhibition spaces. These areas are designed as experiential zones, offering a diverse range of engaging activities for shoppers.
This immersive approach adds depth to the shopping experience, fostering a deeper connection between shoppers and the brands
LIVESTREAMING STUDIO
I’ve revamped the front facade and turned the shopfront spaces into a live streaming studio. The shopfront spaces used to be all about showcasing brands and products with mannequins and posters, so I thought, why not shake things up a bit and bring live streaming right into those shopfront spaces? It's a way to make advertising more interactive and engaging for everyone who passes by.
DISPLAY MODULES
The way display tables are usually set up in stores can limit how people move around and shop. And these fixed arrangements influence the overall shopping experience. To address this, I was thinking of using flexible or moveable display setups and I believe that this gives shoppers more freedom to explore and create their own shopping experiences.
The conventional fixed arrangement of stores has evolved into a more open and flexible layout, affording customers the autonomy to determine their preferred shopping routes. This transformation not only accommodates individualised shopping journeys but also introduces multiple pathways for customers to explore.
