The expression "Polly wants a cracker" is a widely known phrase. While there are a number of sources that attribute the origin of this phrase to to the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco, c. 1876) which used it as a popular slogan, and later to R.L. Stevenson's Treasure Island (pub. 1883).neither of them appears to be the first to use it.

Choosing "Polly Wants a Cracker" as the name for the artisan cracker brand adds a playful and memorable element. It injects a sense of whimsy and personality into the brand identity, making it stand out from more conventional or generic names.
