Editorial Series: Why Gaming Is Now For Adults And Art Lovers
Project Proposal:
I want to take famous classic paintings and insert recognizable game characters that symbolically relate to their painting. The first painting that came to mind was Princess Peach in The Reluctant Bride by Auguste Toulmouche, then I imagined Princess Zelda as John Everett Millais’ St. Joan of Arc, and lastly Kirby as The Scream by Edward Munch. I had also come up with a list of popular game characters from darker games where Kratos from God of War or Ellie from The Last of Us Part 2 as the iconic painting of The Fallen Angel by Alexandre Cabanel, or Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption as a Wild West Remington painting. I imagine the paintings all being textured as if they are physical media with paper, paint, textured brushes and maybe an ornate frame with metallic textures/reflections around each of the 3 pieces. I want to aim to reimagine these characters in fine art scenes by using these techniques to simulate physical paintings, or even have the paintings take on the style of the character.
