The Bay Bridge runs west to east from San Francisco to Oakland across the San Francisco Bay in California. It is otherwise known as the San Francisco- Oakland bridge. It consists of two sections, West and East spans connected by a tunnel.
The unique features include being the longest suspension bridge in the USA, a double deck section with unidirectional traffic, a wide bore tunnel through the Yerba Buena Island rocks, and continuous reengineering since its inception.
It forms part of the Interstate 80 highway and supposedly carries about 260,000 vehicles a day between San Francisco and Oakland.
