The Yiwu Grand Theater designed by MAD architects draws inspiration from "sails, eaves, silk, and mountains." This results in a sloping, pieced-glass roof which, with its semi-translucent material, lends a silk-like quality to the roof. From afar, the semi-translucent glass roof resembles sails on a boat, appearing as if a light boat is floating atop the water.
