I was hired to do the branding for the Illumination Music and Arts Festival, which runs for a summer weekend in Durham, Ontario. The request was for something 'Native American inspired', including a traditional sun/moon symbol done in the same way. I took inspiration from existing Native art, carvings and paintings, and created a symbol that has both traditional stylings and a happy, laid back grin. The fonts have geometric detailing that mirror the details in the sun symbol, and the linework throughout give it a modern, indie feel.
