Listen to the music and funkify that type //

For our graduation work in the vocational school, our teacher advised to choose something we had great pleasure working on, for as he said, it could be the last opportunity in our career.
I became a huge fan of funk music, so I designed a tribute CD cover with leaflet showcasing this genre. In the ’60s and ’70s music industry had a wave of using a really funny and funky typography. So I could luckily be a bad girl and play with distorted type.
I really dig myself into the history and origins of funk. Comprehended the basis how it builds up, made a diagram showing relations of different kinds of African American music genres, went through the elements and topics and gathered milestone bands to showcase this great style. Being a typographical playground, for the project title this song from Tower of Power seemed obvious. And well – I had fun and went rogue distorting letters.

Inspiration was so easy to find for this project. If I just check out the album covers I listen to, I see this style with crazyness and vivid colors. I think I can really call this my first baby project. Dedicate my time to something I really enjoy. Just as I said: the spice of my life.
