This document was created for my Fashion Product Development class in my third year of my Creative Industries degree. I was required to identify a current fashion trend as well as a brand/designer and forecast the evolution of the style.
Inspired by her passion and skill in fabric manipulation, I chose to focus on Molly Goddard and suggest how the shirred sundress tend could be update for the S/S 24 season.
Taking inspiration from her "Kate" dress, my proposed design still incorporates velvet ribbon details over elasticated channels but with an extended shirred bodice silhouette. Combined with the bust detailing, this design accentuates the bust, waist and hips to lean into the "subversive sexy" trend predicted by WGSN whilst still incorporating added volume, ruffles and gathers typical of Molly Goddard's designs.
