The value of water

Respect for the environment, nature, and people is very important to me in my life and work.
Due to my personal experiences, it is urgent for me to keep highlighting the value of water.

That’s why I also like to get involved with this cause in my private life with volunteer projects.
Here are some examples.

NUNCA MAIS (never again) platform of Catalonia
Visual campaign

In November 2002 took place the Prestige oil spill occurred off the coast of Galicia, Spain.
I will never forget November 2002. Those polluted beaches that I was watching on TV and in the press, are the beaches of my childhood, and with every day that passed, the situation on the coast worsened. I felt sad and helpless. Three weeks went by, until by chance one day I came across a small group of people dancing muñeiras (Galician folk) at the Ramblas of Barcelona, they had black tears painted on their faces and banners in their hands to draw attention to the situation in Galicia.
I joined them and I decided spontaneously to create a visual campaign for MAI MÉS (never again), which is the Catalan version of the name and slogan NUNCA MAIS, a movement in Galicia (Spain) formed in response to the Prestige ship environmental disaster.

In three days I did the design (as best as I could), prepared all applications, and found printers who printed for free out of solidarity. Then we called for a demonstration in Barcelona and participated
in a benefit event called the CHAPAPOTE festival. Put up posters and distributed flyers.
The demonstration that happened on December 15, 2002, in Barcelona has been the largest held outside Galicia because of the Prestige catastrophe.

I hope that I never (nunca mais) need to do a visual campaign of this kind again.

The many words that show what this environmental catastrophe entails (such as poverty, tears, negligence, and many others) intend to represent the thick black tar that threats the coast. And who knows the geography of Galicia will recognize its coast, crisscrossed by fjords.

Arte axuda GALICIA
Visual campaign

Several national and international artists organized and joined to contribute to raising funds and supporting the people affected by the Prestige oil spill. Javier Mariscal, with whom I was working at that time, also wanted to help. So I created this campaign in collaboration with him. To be coherent with the topic a more artistic approach was appropriate.

The sea is so polluted that even the fish leave it voluntarily!

1000 drops

To conclude, I would like to share a fact that we should not forget.
