Composition 1
The Gestalt Principle I used for this composition was similarity. I showed this by creating a repeating pattern with the pink shapes but also with the reflecting, mirroring purple outlined shapes in the bottom center of the piece. This composition has elements of regularity, predictability, variation, accuracy, depth, repetition, and juxtaposition.
In the making of this poster, I used Adobe Illustrator. That is how I created these organic shapes that create the composition. I decided to make the repeating, pink shapes not at 100% opacity so I could wrap the purple shapes around them and create some depth in the piece.
Composition 2
The Gestalt Principle applied in this composition was symmetry. The background design isn't exactly symmetrical, but the two larger diamonds in the foreground of the piece are symmetrical across the center of the page horizontally. Other elements this piece holds are balance, regularity, exaggeration, consistency, depth, sequence, and repetition.
I wanted to create a monochromatic piece, and I thought that this poster would benefit from only having different values of this purple color. I created these shapes using Adobe Illustrator and I think that the shapes with their outlines created an interesting design and pattern.
Composition 3
This poster shows the Gestalt Principle of proximity. The rectangles are all super close to each other and create a nice, repeating pattern. The rectangles are also all equally spaced out as they move from row to row in the pattern.
I used Adobe Illustrator to create the pattern for the poster. I originally out with the rectangles not tilted and centered on the page, but I decided to tilt them a little bit to add some excitement to the piece. I also went with this color scheme because blue and green are two of my favorite colors and they look good together so I wanted to incorporate them in one of my posters.
