India is home to a variety of beautiful forests, ranging from the dry thorn, tropical, subtropical, temperate to alpine forests, owing to a tremendous diversity in climate and geological formations. A great variety of fauna, numbering 92,037 species, call these forests their home.  Deforestation results in loss of habitat for the fauna leading to an overall imbalance of the ecosystem. Indian wildlife are organisms of wonder and great beauty, in addition to being an essential part of our ecosystem. They play several unseen, important roles in the forest like controlling population of organisms, seed dispersal, pollination to name a few.

Through this series, I hope to highlight the beauty of the Indian wildlife and spread awareness of the need to conserve our precious forests.
