AS Media Studies Project "DaVision Magazine"

DaVision Magazine, an A-Level Media project, was crafted as an homage to the vibrancy of urban life and its influence on contemporary high culture. Inspired by renowned publications such as Face Magazine, DJ Mag, and Dazed and Confused, DaVision was designed to cater to inner-city youth and ethnic minorities, embodying a seamless blend of urban culture, high fashion, music, and insightful content.

As part of the assignment, I was tasked with creating and designing a magazine for young adults, complete with a front cover and contents page that respected the conventional norms of print media. This also necessitated the creation of an accompanying website to foster an online presence for the brand. The result was DaVision Magazine, a play on the phrase "The Vision", reflecting a progressive view of inner-city life and culture. The entire project was a meticulous, hands-on endeavour where I single-handedly managed every aspect. This ranged from conducting photoshoots, featuring models representative of our target demographic, to designing every page of the magazine and the website, and orchestrating the overall planning of the project.

DaVision Magazine aims to bridge the gap between the streets and the higher echelons of culture, acknowledging and celebrating the roots of high culture in urban life. It offers a fresh and authentic perspective on urban lifestyle, fashion, and music, connecting with readers through relatable narratives and visually compelling content.

The project was well recieved, earning an A* grade for its innovative approach to media production, its insight into contemporary urban culture, and an additional write-up elucidating its premise.
