Making a prom dress (2020)
While wanting to learn how to sew, I was also trying to create a way to spend more time with my Grandma. She suggested we make a prom dress.
We started off by purchasing a sewing pattern template of a dress style I wanted. After studying the types of materials that would be needed to make the prom dress, we purchased our materials. We bought two different thread (white and pink), and three different fabrics (silk, lace, and lining). After cutting out the sewing pattern from the dress template, we began to cut and place the fabric on the template. After everything was cut out, we began to match the sides together and start sewing the different pieces together.
The most difficult part was creating the pleats on the skirt, but following the directions on the sewing template made it easy. After following the sewing directions and spending a lot of time trying on the sewed pieces, our work was complete. After three months of visiting my grandma and sewing, we completed the dress together.
While it was a great experience learning how to sew and making a prom dress, it was an even better experience being with my Grandma and being able to spend time with her.
