Tyler, the Creator's new album features an apology to Selena Gomez. Released on Friday, June 25, Call Me If You Get Lost addresses tweets reportedly made by Tyler in 2010 and 2011, which were directed at Selena, Billboard reports.
As pointed out by BuzzFeed, the tweets, many of which are no longer on Tyler's feed, were made when Selena and Justin Bieber were previously dating. The rapper, who was friends with Justin at the time, sings about the “crazy sh*t” he tweeted about Selena on his new track, “Manifesto."
According to the song, Tyler “didn't wanna offend her, apologize when I seen her.” The track goes on to confirm that his comments were made when he was close with Justin. The entire verse goes: “I was canceled before canceled was with Twitter fingers (Haha) / Protestin' outside my shows, I gave them the middle finger (f*ck 'em) / I was a teener, tweetin' Selena crazy sh*t / Didn't wanna offend her, apologize when I seen her / Back when I was tryna f*ck Bieber, Just-in.”
In screenshots of his old Twitter feed, which were obtained by BuzzFeed, Tyler made similar offensive comments about Dakota Fanning, Miley Cyrus, and Victoria Justice. Those tweets also reportedly no longer appear on his current account. Of the tweets posted and shared by BuzzFeed, Tyler made up to eight comments about a then 18-year-old Selena. After making the comments, Tyler's Twitter account was temporarily locked, Complex reports.
Tyler had previously addressed his relationship with Selena around the time of the tweets, saying in a 2013 interview that “we don't get along," Billboard notes. “We don't like each other ‘cause I’m kicking it with Justin, like that's my homeboy. She always be mean muggin' me. Like why are you hating on me,” he had said.
Selena has not yet responded to Tyler's track, Billboard and People report.
