AMD 317 Sketch #8 Photographing the Body
For this week’s sketch, we were tasked with taking photos in theme of the body. I wanted to approach this sketch in a very abstract way by obscuring the body and playing with lighting. All of the photos I took for this project were using artificial lighting, long exposures, and a tripod. I wanted to use this lighting and particularly color in order to form a different feeling from my photos. I feel that our face is the most identifying part of who we are, so I wanted to take away what identifies us, I feel this was best achieved in the photo where my face is completely blurred, instead we have a suggestion of the shape of a body. I achieved this photo by setting a long exposure and moving my head in multiple directions while the sensor was being exposed. The majority of my photos also considered how I could use lighting to create abstract shapes and patterns such as with the first two photos. I had to use photoshop to fix some of the masking however since the tools in Lightroom didn't allow me to tweak some parts of the image the way I wanted too. The last two photos were taken to explore shapes and textures using shadows and highlights. I manipulated the color in Lightroom cc using a linear gradient mask and adjustments to HSL to get the color gradient. All photos were taken on my Canon Rebel T3 with the 18-55mm kit lens.
