FRAMES
CRAZY EARLIE STUDIES
CASTING, CHARACTER DESIGN AND WARDROBE
We needed to make clear who is who throughout the multiverses. Casting was the leading decison here. with casting locked we designed the characters. and set a color palette for each character. That was used as a guide for the wardrobe team.
For the character design development we've used a different shape for each one, based on the facial features of the casting
THE FIRST SNAP
We wanted the first snap to set the mechanicals of the narrative. so we can be playfull with snaps thru the rest of the spot.

we created some happyverses frames to make the transition look deeper.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
The background is space to put the viewer in the mood of the disney ride. We looked to some jack kirby gorgeous space representations and decided to go in this very colorful take of a space scene. The surreal colors boost the contrast with the live action footage. the animation style is very dinamic and economic in poses to add to the heroic vibe.
Some expression studies to create lovable characters that are inserted in the Guardians universe, we've tried to create a mostly fun group but with some heroic feel to it.
MODEL SHEET
the characters are animated frame by frame, we made the design simpler from previous studies to optimize animation time.
our first idea was to use type as a visual reminder of the comic book universe, but in the middle of the process we realize the animation pace is just too fast to that kind of solution. we decided for a more subtle approach, using  the original guardians of the galaxy type as an inspiration, but keeping type as a second layer.
TOY STORY LAND
for this happyverse we envision the characters in a world that mixes a "quest for the eldorado" with "honey i've shrunk the kids". The idea was to play with the scale of the objects just like at the park. We imagine the park ride in someone's backyard.
We wanted this family of characters to look like a small wooden toy. we've aimed on the minimalistic shapes to create distinct personalities and recognizable features of the live action cast.
Approved character design
3D interpretation
we wanted the faces to be like emojis, very large expression range with lesser shapes possible.
