The AirShape Lamp
concept / glass, aluminium

They say if you want to know the shape of the wind, all you have to do is blow a giant bubble!
Many of us still have wonderful memories of blowing bubbles through a circular device. We got a kick out of blowing bubbles. Our hazy childhood memories of these playful times even add to the peculiar imagery of bubbles.
Air Shape attempts to capture this emotion in an almost ethereal way, frozen in time at the moment the bubble is about to be formed. It's as if time stopped at the moment of birth, stopping at a beautiful hazy memory of our childhood. It sways in the breeze until it becomes spherical, revealing the different colors of the rainbow on its translucent surface. Its form holds an element of uncertainty and fragility, but also conveys a message of potential and vitality.
The black aluminum ring is embedded with LED strips and emits light towards the inner side, allowing it to cater for both upper and lower lighting needs. The air bubble was produced using traditional blown glass. The random and soft unevenness of the surface and the iridescent colors bring out different expressions of light on its surface. Both the inner light source from the aluminum ring and the outer light source from the surrounding environment have different effects.
