Photography Midterm
By Matthew Groe
"I thank you God for this most amazing day,
for the leaping greenly spirits of trees,
and for the blue dream of sky
and for everything which is natural,
which is infinite, which is yes."

E. E. Cummings
These shots were taken over the course of a few months. I feel these five photographs represent my style as a photographer and artist in general. My favorite subject of photography is nature. Nature is never fake. God created the world and it is beautiful. Anyone can take a picture of natures beauty - I intended to "capture" it. Nature can look beautiful in a huge landscape setting. However there is beauty in unlikely places. The last photo was a close up of a rope fencing with a knot tied in the middle. Something so simple we encounter it everyday. Yet when you see it surrounded by nature you tend to notice the intricate threads wound, woven, looped, and twisted together. The rope by itself is bland, but in conjuction with nature becomes a thing of beauty. When I stand in awe looking at a mountain side or a field of flowers I can't help but become lost in its pure elegance.
