To design a Jewellery by assembling miniature Gold Coins inspired from South Indian region.
inspiration
The collection is inspired from the techniques and elements used for coin jewellery in South Indian region. Coins have been used extensively to design jewellery since ancient times and historians trace this style of coin necklace back to the Vedic period. From simple plain gold, to more elaborate antique designs, Nakashi work, Stamping, layered, embellished with precious stones, rubies and diamonds.
The Lakshmi Mala is a Kasu Mala with the imprint of Goddess Lakshmi on each gold coin. The Goddess Lakshmi is considered to be a Hindu deity of wealth and prosperity and wearing this necklace is considered to be auspicious. Kasu (coin) Mala (necklace) as known as Kasulaperu (Kasula Peru, line of kasulu) in Telugu, Kasu Malai in Tamil, and Malayalam, Sara in Kannada, Laxmi Haar in Maharashtra and Galsiri in Goa.
