First, I took a selfie and imported it into Photoshop. I gathered many references of Freddy's face and changed the blend mode to Overlay.
After gathering references and using the lasso and warp tool to add Freddy's disfigured facial features to my face, I sketched what I would look like. I made sure to detail the scars and gore on my face. In the end, I decided to remove the hand as this was just a personal project for fun. The hand would add over 2 hours of work.
I used a soft airbrush to paint in my features. I made sure to have my references by my side at all times, so I do not get lost while painting Freddy's scars. It can be very easy to lose track of what's going on with so many scars on the face.
Started to focus on building up my rendering around my eyes. I kept the muscles under my skin pretty loose, without focusing much on being accurate to actual anatomy.
Painting in the neck and sweater. Added a wool texture onto the sweater.
Finished the hair, plus some final touches to my face. The background is just a simple gradient with a smoke photo over it. Theres a small vignette around the canvas. The finishing touch was to add noise and finally we're done.
