This painting was from a photo shoot I did with a neighbor

who lived about a mile from me.

His life as a cowboy, rancher, and rodeo performer

was the perfect storm for our meetup. During the shoot his

horse threw him and he broke his ankle! He was

apologetic in cutting the shoot short. ‘Such is the life of a cowboy.’

After I finished the painting I gave him a copy

and he told me getting the piece was worth breaking

his ankle. We have since become good friends.
