The message I am trying to communicate in my artwork is that my surroundings become a part of me. This is the message because the friends, family and experiences I have make me who I am and forms how I act. I show this by having the artistic negative space as a part of my glasses. Two artists I have found communicated the same strong message. The artist’s names are Marion Smith and Mel Marcelo. Marion’s name of his artwork is Self Portrait Vector Art and Mel’s is Leonardo DiCaprio Shutter Island Art In A Vintage Book Style. They brilliantly communicated a similar message because they both used part of the person as either part of the background or a completely different wild image. They really didn’t use any other symbols or visual cues. This approach is similar to my artwork because they both use negative space as part of their portraits. It is different because I just used it in a small way, where they both used it as a big part of their own vision.
