In 1998, I was in school and a group visited to present the idea of a trek in South America. They showed us a slideshow and told a few tales. I signed up on the dot. It was an expensive trip and we had 2 years to raise the money for it. The group was initially 20+ strong, but this soon whittled down to 13.
The year 2000 rolled around and we made our way out to Bolivia not knowing what to expect. We met our guide Rafael and our initial itinerary was given to us.
I was assigned group photographer. I imagine there was a couple of reasons for this. I had a camera. That was probably the winning factor.
So off we went, for the first of many expeditions during our month long visit. With a trusty Nikon FE2, two prime lenses, 28mm and 50mm, and a bag full of Kodachrome 64 and Provia 100.
I'll never forget the place.
