Podcast Interpretation Poster
True Crime - Casefile
The goal for this project was to take inspiration from a podcast, audio book, or any other form of visual media that did not already have premade visuals to guide our interpretation. I chose to base mine off of a podcast called, 'True Crime - Casefile', which is obviously enough about murder cases and unsolved crimes. When I think of crime and murder,
I typically think of clues that are left behind that help uncover the suspect, ex; footprints, hair, fingerprints, clothing. I was inspired by the AJR music video, "Way Less Sad",
in which they use a lot of fish-eye lens and under shots, to create an undershot of a man walking toward the frame, his shoe prominently on display with the title of the podcast on the sole. For the design of the poster, I wanted to go with a comic style theme with primary colors and green, as well as the Ben-Day dots that are typically seen on comic books and pop-art. As I was designing, I had accidentally broken the frame with the line rays that broke off, but instead liked the depth that it gave to draw the viewer in. I included a comic style font and finished the bottom off with the podcast description.

Some of the feedback I received after in-class critiques, was that the bottom text shouldn't be raised up with the sidewalk line, and that the sidewalk should also extend back into the frame behind the person. Another comment was that it was too difficult to read the True Crime letters as they weren't placed in the standard direction that someone would read.
