CHAINED MASK

My design work, Chained Mask, winner of the coveted A' Design Award, has been exhibited in Italy, at Museo del Design - Via Bellinzona 15, 22100, Como / Italy, from 1st of June, 2021 to 18th of June, 2021, as part of a very prestigious international good design exhibition.

The Chained project came due to the pandemic needs but focusing in versatility and comfort. It is based on a mask with a good and different design sewn with an antiviral fabric for the base, a few nickel chains on the left side and another going around the neck. Along with a hand drawing jaw line, human teeth and a chequered pattern in a black synthetic leather for the right side of the mask. The Chained Mask project is a study made by the designer on a illustration course in London about the underground life and creations of Balenciaga in Paris Fashion Week 2020.

I don't even have words for this feeling...

When I recieved the e-mail from A'Design Award and Competition inviting me to participate in the 2021 competition I just couldn't believe it.

Was completely unexpected.

When I would have imagined that my work (NUF MASKS W2020) that I had posted without pretension, just to build my portfolio, would reach the hands of such an important contest in the world of design!

It took me by surprise and at the moment I couldn't really think about what I was going to actually do... Because I had to put together my mask project from 2020, some makeup, photography and yet another project I did when I took a course at Central Saint Martins (ual) in London-UK.

It just blew my mind.

From then on I started to recruit my dream team to be part of this very special moment: Gennaro Fattori in photography, Giulia Dias as a model, @makeupbynuf I did the makeup and, as I had a video to post and if I wanted to put some background music, I needed those copyrights!

I thought, thought... and none other than Laura Padaratz on the soundtrack in the artistic inertia that was this project! All friends of mine who took the project as their own with me.

Finally, we had the help of Mais Dill studio too!

At last, the deadline for posting has arrived.

As always some speed bump had to be in the way, the last step for the finalization wasn't working and there was less than 1h left to close the deadline.

Long story short, (as we've already seen) everything worked out!! From there we just had to wait for the result.

And when the day came...

“Chained Mask by Noelle Ulian de Freitas is Winner in Limited Edition and Custom Design Category 2020-2021”

My jaw dropped. 

Honestly, I think it still hasn't dawned on me that we won the “6th” place in the world ranking of the Limited Edition and Custom Design 2020-2021 category!

(I say 6th in quotation marks, because I got the 4th prize)

What I'm here to say, besides telling my experience, is to thank everyone who participated in the project with me for the THOUSANDTH time! Also to the few who knew (which I think were the most important, because this is where the genuine support only came from) and without a doubt I am immensely happy to say that I made this project!
