Pindad Excava 200 & Excava 80 Amphibious

Coincidence

It has been quite some time since PT. Pindad introduced its first heavy equipment in 2014, with the debut of the "Excava 200," a 20-ton class excavator proudly manufactured in Indonesia.

Reflecting back, a year prior in 2013, I had harbored a wish for the emergence of an "Earthmoving Machine" crafted within our nation's borders. This aspiration took root during my junior high school days, prompting me to promptly express it through the medium of drawing on a sheet of HVS paper. In my sketches, I depicted an excavator, a dozer, and a crawler crane, each adorned with the iconic red and white color scheme symbolizing products proudly made in Indonesia. (Refer to the image below for illustration.)

A year after completing the artwork, I was surprised to learn about the emergence of a domestic manufacturer, "Pindad," venturing into the production of heavy equipment, even adopting a red and white color scheme. Though I had no direct involvement or connection, I couldn't help but feel proud and delighted by the coincidence.

With over 8 years of operation, Pindad has expanded its product line to include various Excava models, ranging from the 5-ton Excava 50 to the largest 34-ton Excava 340, alongside other heavy equipment like loaders, agricultural machinery, and road construction equipment.

Currently, I am revisiting my previous imaginings, now transformed into reality. This new artwork depicts the Pindad Excava 200 and Excava 80 Amphibious models, rendered on A3 (11.69 x 16.54 in) paper using colored pencils, with a total processing time of approximately 21 hours.
I hope you all enjoy it! (:
