LINYING AND BIRDS OF PARADISE TEAM UP FOR LIMITED EDITION GELATO
15 September 2021 - Local botanical gelato boutique Birds of Paradise and singer-songwriter Linying are delighted to announce 'Springtime' Red Berries Ginger Bloom — a limited-edition gelato concoction of red berries, rhubarb, and the heady notes of the local torch ginger bloom.
This confectionery collaboration celebrates Linying's newly minted single of the same name, 'Springtime' — a breezy elastic pop, lo-fi R&B tune from her upcoming debut album. Co-produced by London-based production duo, Myriot (London Grammar, Halsey), the song details the anticipation and uncertainty of new love.
"Linying's 'Springtime' is both wistful and hopeful. The duality inspired us to create a flavour contrast of sweet and sour, spiked with the aromatic torch ginger bloom — a local herb also known as the rojak flower — as a nod to her era-defining National Day song." Birds of Paradise pays homage to Linying's recent work on this year's National Day theme song, 'The Road Ahead'.
Birds of Paradise is one of Singapore's culinary gems, having the honour of being the only gelato boutique listed in Michelin Guide Singapore and thrice awarded a Michelin Plate. They are best known for their unique botanical gelato creations that celebrate South East Asia with the finest natural ingredients local to the region.
Teaming up with Birds of Paradise was a no-brainer for Linying. "'Springtime' is one of the most visually-inspired songs I've ever written, and I'm really passionate about ice cream. Birds of Paradise is a national treasure, and I've been a fan for a very long time. Creating a gelato inspired by the imagery of 'Springtime' makes this a dream collaboration for me."
Birds of Paradise x Linying 'Springtime' Red Berries Ginger Bloom is a mix of red currants, raspberries, and strawberries, with the heady aroma of ginger bloom in a house-cooked rhubarb jam.
'Springtime' Red Berries Ginger Bloom will be available at Birds of Paradise online and in-store boutiques from Saturday, 18th September 2021 to mid-Oct. Pre-orders are available online from Thursday, 16th September 2021, 2:00 pm onwards for deliveries beginning Saturday, 18th September 2021.

ABOUT LINYING
Singaporean singer-songwriter Linying's confessional writing style is vivid and vulnerable, with NPR's very own Bob Boilen likening her to the American indie-folk band Bon Iver.
Before being recognised for her own music, Linying first turned heads in the EDM world as a topliner, featuring on tracks with DJs Felix Jaehn and Lost Frequencies. These songs amassed over 100 million streams online and were performed at renowned music festivals across the globe, from Coachella to Lollapalooza, catapulting her into the spotlight.
Linying released her debut single Sticky Leaves soon after and successfully charted in Spotify's Global, US, and UK Viral 50 — a first for a Singaporean artist. This landed her a spot on Spotify Asia's list of 25 Most Influential Artists Under 25.
Her debut EP, Paris 12, was released in September 2016 to critical and widespread acclaim with recognition from the likes of media outlets BBC Radio 1 and Billboard, singer Troye Sivan, and celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.
