The main purpose of this study was to perform a failure analysis in a globe valve. The cause of failure was an excessive shear stress in the graphite seal.

For which it was initially reconstructed three-dimensionally, from the design drawings of the equipment, and then modeled by the finite element method using ANSYS. Within the study, the following analyses were performed: static and fluid mechanics with Fluent.
