Visualizing Better Farming

I was hired to make a series of illustrations for a sociological study in which African farmers were asked to weigh the pros and cons of various farming methods.
The farmers were shown practical symbols of various seeds, soils, and amount of labor. The authors of the study wanted an illustration that could help people understand what these physical choices looked like.
Another goal was to show the thought process of the farmers as they made their choices. Thought bubbles show what factors influenced their decisions.
