I designed a scrolling layout for a bakery site within Adobe XD. Below is the first page that you land on:
I wanted to keep the design simple and professional, so opted to have an eye-catching bakery photo as the main display. The opening times, address and social media links are available to view straight away to give the user important information quickly without hassle. It all follows a black and white colour scheme as if to replicate flour on a baking tray.
Scrolling down slightly takes you to the About section. It adds to the bakery colour scheme with the addition of a pale 'dough' colour. There is a call to action to order online or you can keep scrolling to find out more about the bakery. The use of a serif font as a title was chosen to add a sense of establishment and reputation, as The Bakery has been running for 20 years.
The next section shows a taster of the full menu. I decided on a chalkboard effect as it is commonly used for menu boards within bakeries. Each menu item shows a name, description and price to give an overview of what the bakery offers.
The last section shows the team behind The Bakery. It's important to show the people behind the company as it makes the site feel a lot more personal and relatable to users.
The footer marks the end of the site and highlights important information and navigation while keeping with the design theme.
