Ancient Greek- Bag props

In this assignment we had to work on 5 prop designs. Everyone got a style and a type of prop. I got Ancient Greek and a bag/suitcase. I had no idea where to start but I'm proud how it turned out.

There are 2 parts to this assignment. The 2D designing and the 3D modeling.
I first start with the designing part.

I made a moodboard of Ancient Greek:

I also made a moodboard for bags:

Some things of Ancient Greek that I really wanted to include in my designs.

I made a lot of different designs, like handbags, backbags, shoulder bags, horse bags and belt bags.

I chose my favorite designs. I added some details to them.
I also made some new designs.

Then I let my friends chose their favorites. But in the end I chose the ones I wanted to design the most. Their opinion really helped though!

These are the designs I chose to work out:

These 2 were the first I worked out. The elements I put in these 2 designs are an ancient greek helmed, arch and a pot. Left one is a handbag, right is a shoulder bag.
I worked a lot on these designs and I'm proud how they turned out.

The left has a big brush that is stiff so it stays in shape just like the helmets from that time.  I used a pattern on the middle part to give it more a modern vibe. The handle is like a typical arch from ancient greek buildings.

The right design has a donut form, with transparant sides in the middle. The form and pattern is based of the designs on Ancient Greek pots.

These two were my next designs I started on. 2 Backpacks.
The left bag is inspired by the legend; Icarus. The wings are broken and shredded like in the legend. The wood parts are things I saw on a lot of drawings of Icarus and so I added them to make it more recognizable. You can put your stuff on both sides of the wings. This bag includes 2 parts to put stuff in; left wing and right wing.

The right one is a simple bag with carpets or fabrics or even scrolls, just how you see it! I chose for carpets but I can see the 2 other types as well. It is fastened with the belt.

And last but definitely not least. This design is my favorite. It is the only suitcase I created. After struggling a lot with the feather looking objects, it finally came together. The feathers are based of the picture on the right under this text.
With help of my teachers I added the right shadows to create more drama to the object.

The handle is based of an art piece I saw, you can see that one on the left.
You can see it in the fence.

This assignment was so interesting and new. I never designed bags so it was really refreshing. I am really proud of my designs and can't wait to model them next week!

Now it was time to start modeling the props I designed.
During this progress I was really thinking I made it hard for myself to choose a lot of organic shapes.

The wings backpack and the suitcase were the most difficult designs out of the 5 and I worked most of my time on those 2.

Link to my sketchfab because behance still wont let me put the embed version in.

The wings have a lot of detail because of this it turns almost black.

This was the most stressfull assignment of this periodt. I worked really hard on the assignment. I'm really proud of the wings even though it is not a actual backpack, it looks so amazing and real. Never thought I could make something like that.

Ofcourse I am also very proud of the other bags. I learned to work more with organic shapes. This assignment was a lot of work but also a lot of fun.
