Fragility, 2013
This project translates the vulnerability of humans in our pursuit of beauty, even if it’s to the extreme, through the use of cellular forms. The structure is based on the bone tissue of an anorexic, which becomes more porous due to low bone density caused by the lack of nutrients. As the bone thins away, one become susceptible to injuries or even death. Beauty in its extremity eats away one who pursuits the ideal.
The code used to generate the cutouts varies the sizes of the pores based of the left and right movement of the mouse across the screen, representing an increasing BMI or decreasing BMI, creating smaller or bigger pores respectively.
