I was commissioned to do a Madhubani Illustration for a video that a client made for her mother’s sixtieth birthday. My client’s vision was to depict the four stages of a woman's life through a series of Illustrations.
The first stage would be that of the child being born, located at the roots of the Tree of Life. She brings with her joy, happiness and the delight and innocence of a new born.
The second stage is that of a young girl. The curious girl meets a deer and she begins to venture out from the safety of her home yet remain shrouded in innocence as she experiences the beauty that the world has to offer.
The third stage is that of a young woman. She has reached maturity, and the Tree of Life blossoms with flowers as she blossoms into the beauty of womanhood..
The fourth stage of the woman is when she reaches the loftiest heights of life. Birds soar high in the sky like her dreams. All around is the fruits of her life: the people she has touched by being a mother, wife, daughter, grand daughter and friend is innumerable.
The final stage, as seen in the video indicates an older woman. Wisdom is etched in her skin and her eyes as she holds a lamp, illuminating numerous lives around her.
