Flight Seat - School Chairs Refinished

Refinishing School Chairs
circa 1940 transformed to playful dining chairs
My first project working with furniture.  The chairs are circa 1950's school chairs constructed in prisons.  The backs and seat bases are made of plywood.  The metal legs and base were originally painted a neutral tan color.  Over the years, the varnish on the wood had started to crack as well as the paint on the metal legs had been chipped.
The chairs were stripped, sanded, and brought back to a "raw" state.  The bases were painted a dark chocolate brown.  I painted paper airplanes on each of the chair backs.  The backs of the chair backs were painted in the same chocolate brown.   The chairs were then varnished in a high-gloss wood varnish.
