In paint manufacturing quality control is of great importance. One of the staple tests used throughout the industry is drawdown testing. This is where paint is applied evenly onto various panels with different surfaces in order to determine the coverage of the paint sample. This can be a long and time consuming process and as a result many companies are now looking to automate it.

Whilst on placement at Labman Automation Ltd I worked on an automated drawdown robot which would complete this process without the need for human interaction. This project was done in connection with one of the world's leading paint manufacturers and is going to be incorporated into their quality control process in the near future.
