Due to how positive my previous T-shirt design was received. I was happy to hear that my Church member client requested me to design a brochure for an event.

Upon her request, she wanted to use a folding technique type of design with certain theme about camping. While the event was canceled due to a recent worldwide pandemic events. I felt that this is a good display of communication between a designer and a client with the product as the end result.

The theme is: Be Equipped. Taken from 2 Timothy 3:16-17

At the time, the details of the event were quite basic but as time developed, more information was provided and was added. The intention was to use the chalk board as a backdrop for the design and add camping equipment to signify being prepared for a journey, an adventure, a...conference.

Regardless, it was a strong way to start the process. The printing was demanded as a front to back with colors. Using the items found among campers as a general way to symbolize the text on the brochure but not too distracting on the eyes. As you can see, the compass, map, flashlight and other bits are added to not only pinpoint the text but it also flows in a way that, when printed and folded. Works better to explain the event itself.

The Client was very kind enough to provide images for the speakers and general information about them. In some cases, a client would just ask for a design, drop a theme, send some low resolution photos and leave you be. 

While the photos are mostly taken with a phone camera and not in that good of a condition. I was able to balance the size and provide a more interesting shape to highlight the individuals. The flow of text was my favorite. It was such a joy to have the text to be pre-prepared and checked.

Before the design process, I was also testing out how the flow of information would work if it were to be folded. Thankfully, the internet helped make short work of that. Despite the event being canceled, the reception among the planners and committee members were positive. They really like the reduction of text clutter and the amount of breathing room the words had. While they did ask for a few more changes for the timetable and several creative requests. The message was never sent and this was the only end result. 

While in the initial design, there was more chalk based colors other than white and pink, my client requested a reduce which I complied and adapted to balance out my creative freedom. While I would want to do more changes, I'm proud of this so far.
