Postcards
We were to create postcards for 3 different cities that were visually connected.
I chose the cities of Bologna, Brussels and Prague as they all have sentimental value to me: Bologna was the first city I went to study abroad and live on my own; Brussels was near where I went on exchange for University in Belgium and Prague was one of my favourite cities while touring Europe as well as the birthplace to one of my favourite authors, Franz Kafka.
Here is how my project evolved:
Finally, I went with a design where the letters and buildings would be incorporated with one another. I chose colours of red and orange for Bologna, nicknamed "La Rossa" (The Red), as they are the colours that surround you when walking through the historical section.
For Brussels, I wanted to related the colours to the flag of the European Union as the headquarters are located here. However, I made the hues a little lighter and more green as I felt as these more aptly represented the colours seen while walking through the city.
Finally, for Prague, I chose light and dark colours. This was tricky as the rooftop colours in Prague are very similar to the colours of Bologna and I did not want the postcards to be too similar. I went for more rose hues and incorporated more contrast.
