Sustainability in fashion implies improvement of all stages of the product’s life cycle, from design, raw material and its ability to be biodegraded, manufacturing, transport and storage, to use, reuse, repair, remake and recycling of the product and its components in order to minimize any undesirable environmental impact.
I have created 3D models of sweatshirts and hoodies for women and men (red, blue, and black), and have manufactured these items taking advantage of virtual prototyping and, therefore, saving sample time and costs, and reducing waste. These sweatshirts are all made of TENCEL micromodal. Micromodal fibers are extracted from naturally grown beech wood by an environmentally responsible integrated pulp-to-fiber process. These fibers are biodegradable and compostable under industrial, home, soil and marine conditions, thus they can fully revert back to nature.
Micromodal is incredibly soft and pleasant to the skin, breathable, water-absorbent, strong and durable, has a great colour retention and luxurious shine and flow.
