The Malaysian National Inter-varsity Debate Championship (MNIDC) is a national competitive debate tournament organized for university students across Malaysia. I was assigned to create the 2020 tournament logo and Facebook cover image.
To express the country’s nationality within the event’s identity the logo design is inspired by the form of the hibiscus flower petals and stigma parts, along with colors closely related to Malaysia’s national flag. The incorporation of a microphone icon within the design relates to the debate and public speaking aspect of the tournament.
The text for the logo with type was shortened to ‘Malaysia Nationals’ instead of the full ‘Malaysia National Intervarsity Debate Championship' title.
