I was asked to illustrate the cover for Harper’s during the COVID-19 pandemic. When asked to create an illustration around the concept of 'hands across the universe, reaching out to forge a connection', I was reminded of a Michelangelo painting titled: The Creation of Adam which is a depiction of humanity and life, at several levels, and so my illustration is centered around that concept.

I wished to convey hope, solidarity, and courage through connection with oneself, each other, and a higher power.
